Egg - Egg

Deram P25L 25058. 1970

Japanese issue, bought from NF during one of his clear-outs.

Not sure why, as it's quite nasty prog.

That was one horrible 40:32 chore.

Brian Eno - The Shutov Assembly

Opal/Warner Bros. 1992

Dull.

Everlast - What It's Like (single)

Tommy Boy TBCD7470. 1999

I hate radio edits with their creative obliteration of sweary bits.

This is all a bit self-righteous. Ooh, walk a mile in that tramp's shoes. I wonder how much he gives to hobos.

Not exactly House of Pain.

Coldcut - More Beats and Pieces

Ninja Tune ZENcd 558. 1997

Annoying.

There was a Coldcut installation at some music-related exhibition at the Pompidou Centre in Paris a few years ago. There were loads of screens on the wall, and loads of pressure pads on the floor. Jumping on a pad triggered a video on one of the screens with accompanying sound. I'm sure there was probably something a bit more complicated than that, and all kinds of clever algorythms determining what appeared in what order depending on how many pads were being activated at any given time. Regardless, it was tits. And I mean bad, not the South Park reversal of the term.

Cornelius - Drop

Matador Ole544-2. 2002

I don't see what all the fuss was about.

Burundi Black

BCM Records CDS 055-555553.

Some fellas drumming. Someone had the bright idea of clagging it together with some Robert Miles style insipididity, making an altogether revolting result.

I thought it couldn't get any worse, then halfway through the 'remix' we get a Tarzan yodel!

Onto the 'never again unless I need to sample some tribal drumming' pile.

The Crazy World of Arthur Brown

Polydor 833 736-2. 1991

I saw Hawkwind a few years ago (I know, I know - but it was free and I wasn't doing anything else). They were ok-ish, and did Silver machine as an encore. 'Canny', thought I, as it's one of the few Hawkwind tracks I know. Then this gangly wanker appears on stage, prancing around and ruining it with his theatrical warblings. Prick.

This is almost completely rubbish. Hammonds coming at you from all angles and his god-awful voice piercing the soul (in a bad way). Even Fire sucks once you get past the chorus bit that everyone know.

He even sounds like Tom Jones (he's up there with James Brown in my eyes, travesty that he is) on I've got money.

Get this shite away from me.

Broadcast - Extended Play Two

Warp WAP141CD. 2000

At least they found the adjustment button for the tempo on this one.

Slightly more interesting.

Broadcast - Work and Non Work

Warp CD52. 1997

Dull. Sounds like one long, boring song. It's if if they found a setting on all their kit and thought 'That'll do!' for the whole album.

The Beloved - Happiness

EastWest 2292-46253-2. 1990

Really, truly horrible. I want to cry.

Even the singles Hello and The Sun Rising can't redeem this pop pap.

Consigned to the shite bin.
