Agnostic Front - Cause for Alarm / Liberty and Justice For...

Rough Justice / Music for Nations CD JUST8 (under licence from Combat) 1986/7, 1991

Around 86/7 I was into metal. Quickly getting over Kiss, Dave Lee Roth, Vinnie Vincent Invasion and all that crap, and on to thrash. I loved the big four - Metallica, Anthrax, Megadeth, Slayer. My mate IH's older brother bought him a copy of 'Liberty and Justice for...' in 87 and things got a bit more interesting.

I went out and spent everything I had (not a lot) on DRI, Gang Green, Crumbsuckers - whatever the chaps in Volume records thought sounded a bit like AF. From there on my musical tastes diversified very quickly. I embraced the UK stuff such as Extreme Noise Terror, Napalm Death, Deviated Instinct, Doom, Hellbastard, Heresy, Concrete Sox. Anything a bit noisy, preferably guitar solo-free.

Thank you IH's brother. Thank you Agnostic Front.

I prefer CFA. It's punk. LAJF... has metally elements to it, while not quite qualifying as 'crossover' in my book. The double bass drum and guitar solos almost tip it over the edge.

No real highlights. Low point: 'Lost Land' - seems to be falling over itself, everyone struggling to keep in time.
