Harry Belafonte - Coconut Woman

ONN67.

Does he really have to sing in that stereotypical black islander way? It's obviously put on and I'm pretty sure it was a marketing ploy of the time to appeal to the same people that dug The Black and White Minstrel Show. 'Gotta jump down, spin around and pick a pail of cotton' - !!!!

Regardless, some of this isn't bad.

I think FGC bought this after watching Beetlejuice.

Highlights: Jump in the line, and the moment of revelation when hearing Scarlet Ribbons and realising that's where Grahame Garden's line comes from in The Goodies' Funky Gibbon - 'and for me some scarlet gibbons, scarlet gibbons for my hair'

The lowest of the low: Danny Boy, especially the preceeding waffle about it being for the folks of Ireland.
