Being rubbish at sleeping for as long as I can remember, I often lie on the sofa with headphones on until I eventually nod off. I was doing this pretty much every night back in '96/7. This is certainly one of the albums I've most often fallen asleep to (along with Spirit of Eden and Laughing Stock by Talk Talk, and Loveless by My Bloody Valentine).
I remember being up late one night with MTV on, probably drunk or stoned or something or other, and the video for Allergy came on. A gorgeous hand-drawn animated headfuck (well, it was for me at the time), with this spartan drum-based tune banging away at my sensibilities. Bought it next day, along with something else I'd never heard of but can't remember what it was now but it'll come to me as I go through the collection I suppose maybe. A regular on the playlist to this day.
