Bought second hand in Replay, Bristol for £5, after it was withdrawn from the stock of Gloucester Library, or so the various stickers and stamps on the cover would imply.
Apart from the ride cymbal being a bit loud in the mix, this is an incredible recording.
It's hard to believe most of this is improv, the way the bass and sax drag each other this way and that, but never lose track, the drums constantly holding everything just in check.
Erm, modal this, chromatic that, counterpoint, interplay etc.
