Chemical Brothers - Life Is Sweet (CD 1 of 2)

Junior Boys Own / Virgin CHEMSCD2. 1995

I've never been into big beat, but this stood out. The lumbering bass synth riff sings to me. Though guest vocalist Tim Burgess is a bit flat, it only adds to the whole package. His voice is actually used to drive the melody rather than an add-on.

Then we have the customary remix-fest to fill up the disk. One by the CBs themselves which does nothing for it. Daft Punk contribute something that bears no resemblance to the original at all. Then we have Leave Home (Terror Drums) which is more bog standard big beat nonsense that I could do without.

Great first track though.
