I must have read a review of this in The Wire, otherwise I've no idea where I'd heard of it. I ordered it online from Mike, and it arrived a few days later, all the way from Rome. Poor quality inkjet cover in a plastic sleeve, CD-r with title in felt pen and a little palm tree sticker. Forget the packaging, this is a beauty.
Apparently a tribute to Arthur Lyman (hawaiian musician) and Ellery Chun (creator of the hawaiian aloha shirt), the music here is crafted from looped samples from hawa... I'm not typing that again - the two 'i's together throw me every time. Mellow stuff. Beautifully crafted exotica. Perfect for a nice bath, sits nicely in the background if busy with work, can command your attention if taken on its own. Later released as a 10" (I can see it from here at the front of the 10" pile).
Buy this and other delights from his website. Now!

It is a great record by Mike Cooper, one of the unsung mavericks of modern music. Check out a great interview with him in xochi23 vol2 (an arts/music journal from Australia).
